Grounded 2 Ziplines Unlock and ZIP.R Guide

Unlock ziplines in Grounded 2, build clear anchor routes, find ZIP.R for uphill travel, and fix connection or boarding problems.

Quick answer

  • 1Collect the zipline unlock from the Ominent nest above the Pergola area.
  • 2Build a freestanding Zipline Anchor, then connect it to another clear endpoint with Silk Rope.
  • 3Find ZIP.R in the hanging shoes at Gnarly Bark to travel uphill on completed lines.
  • 4Approach an anchor from the wire side and stand slightly inside its frame when the boarding prompt is missing.

Unlock ziplines and prepare the parts

The Grounded 2 zipline unlock is in the Ominent nest above the Pergola. Climb through the Pergola route, reach the elevated nest, and collect the unlock before planning a network. The build menu then provides the freestanding Zipline Anchor and the smaller Zipline Wall Anchor.

Make Silk Rope at a Spinning Wheel from Web Fiber. Long connections consume more rope, so carry a reserve before climbing to a remote endpoint.

Build a working zipline route

Start with a high freestanding anchor and aim at a clear destination. A steeper downward line is faster, while a shallow route trades speed for easier placement. Keep leaves, walls, stems, and moving build pieces away from the full wire path because an obstruction can block the connection or knock a rider off.

Use this sequence:

  1. Place the source anchor on stable, elevated ground.
  2. Place a second freestanding anchor or a Wall Anchor with open line of sight.
  3. Interact with the source and select the destination.
  4. Add the required Silk Rope to complete the wire.
  5. Walk the route below the line and remove anything crossing it.
  6. Test the boarding prompt from the wire-facing side of each anchor.

Build the first route between two places visited repeatedly. A central high hub can later branch toward the pond, Pergola, Gnarly Bark, and the main base without rebuilding every destination.

Get ZIP.R for two-way travel

ZIP.R removes the downhill-only limitation for player travel. The upgrade is inside the hanging shoes at Gnarly Bark. Climb through the tree route, reach the shoe opening, and collect ZIP.R to enable uphill movement on completed lines.

The upgrade changes route design. Before ZIP.R, place source anchors above their destinations and use ziplines as fast one-way descents. After collecting it, the same line becomes a return route, so a compact hub can serve both outbound and inbound travel.

Plan a useful network

Treat the first hub as a switchboard for repeated trips. Choose a roof, tree platform, or custom tower with clear sightlines and enough room to approach every anchor from the wire side.

Shorter branches are easier to troubleshoot and usually need less Silk Rope. Give each destination its own landing area so riders do not hit roofs, leaves, or storage placed too close to the anchor. Test each branch before adding the next one.

Fix a zipline that will not connect or start

If the destination will not connect, confirm that both endpoints are fully built, the inventory has enough Silk Rope, and the entire line is unobstructed. Move the destination slightly outward when a leaf, wall edge, or roof clips the wire.

If the line is complete but no boarding prompt appears, approach from the side where the wire enters the anchor. Step slightly inside or just in front of the frame and look toward the cable. Grounded 2 uses a narrower interaction area than the full model suggests.

Use this order for a quick diagnosis:

  1. Confirm both anchor models are complete.
  2. Confirm the rope connection is finished.
  3. Check the line from source to destination for collisions.
  4. Move to the wire-facing side of the anchor.
  5. Step into the front edge of the frame and aim at the cable.
  6. Test downhill travel before relying on ZIP.R for the return trip.
