What changed in each major content update

Hairy and Scary

Update 0.2 made AXL the headline boss and attached a full equipment track to the fight, including Tarantula armor and weapons. It also replaced the old construction radial with BUILD.M, added permanent Hotpouch access, and let players use the Hotpouch while riding a Buggy.

Toxic Tangle

Update 0.3 expanded Brookhollow Park into the Community Garden. The release added the greenhouse and surrounding Garden regions, Tang hazards, a Garden story arc, the tank-style Ladybug Buggy, new creatures and equipment, and the split between active and passive mutations.

Beat the Heat

Update 0.4 introduced King Dozer as a summonable boss with its own equipment rewards. Buggy progression grew into a broader upgrade path, and the Black Soldier Ant Buggy joined the mount roster with its own role in park travel and combat.

Into the Abyss

Update 0.5 opens the Pond for exploration above and below the surface. Its official feature set includes underwater regions such as the Mountains and Bayou, diving suits for longer submerged routes, returning aquatic creatures, and the amphibious Toe-biter Buggy.

Content updates, feature updates, and patches

A content update changes the playable world in a large way by adding a region, story path, boss, mount, or equipment tier. Toxic Tangle and Into the Abyss fit this group.

A feature update is narrower. The December 0.2.2 release restored Coziness, expanded PEEP.R 2K, and improved resource tracking without adding a full new biome. A numbered patch such as 0.4.2 concentrates on performance, crashes, progression blockers, and focused balance or usability fixes.

Read the notes that match the exact version shown on the main menu. A large update article explains the new systems, while its follow-up patches document fixes made after launch.

Before loading an older world

  1. Install the newest available game build before opening the world.
  2. Keep a separate manual save from before the update when the save menu allows it.
  3. Read the notes for the major version and its first follow-up patch.
  4. After loading, inspect important bases, assigned Buggies, active quests, and nearby resource spawns.
  5. Save again only after confirming that the world and progression state load correctly.

Large terrain and resource changes can affect structures built close to natural spawn points. Start the first post-update session at a familiar base, then verify the systems you rely on before beginning a long expedition.
