Grounded 2 Builds for Solo and Co-op
Use coherent Grounded 2 builds for melee stun, sustain tank, venom rogue, and ranged support with matching gear and mutations.
Quick answer
- Choose one combat job before selecting armor, trinkets, and mutations.
- Weapon-based passive mutations apply automatically in the current system.
- Stack effects that share a trigger such as stun, venom, block, or weak-point hits.
- Scan the target and change one loadout slot when a build underperforms.

How Grounded 2 builds work
A build is a chain of effects with one clear job. Pick a damage plan or team role, then choose a weapon, armor, trinket, and active mutations that reward the same action. Four individually strong items can still form a weak build when their triggers never meet.
The current mutation system separates active and passive effects. Weapon-based passives apply automatically from the equipped loadout. Your chosen active slots should cover stamina, defense, utility, or a trigger that the equipment already uses.
Four practical Grounded 2 builds
Melee stun
| Slot | Choice |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Red Ant Club |
| Armor | Snail Shell or a durable Fighter set |
| Trinket | Astonishing Acid |
| Core mutation | Smasher |
| Job | Build stun, break blocks, and punish the opening |
Charged club attacks help break enemy blocks, while Smasher reinforces the weapon role. Astonishing Acid improves combo-finisher damage. Use this setup when control is more valuable than rapid movement.
Sustain tank
| Slot | Choice |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Mosquito Needle |
| Off hand | Shield |
| Armor | Ladybug set |
| Active focus | Block stamina, maximum health, and healing |
| Job | Hold attention and recover through long melee exchanges |
The Mosquito Needle supplies lifesteal, while Ladybug armor's Bargain Block reduces the stamina pressure of guarding. This template is forgiving in solo travel and gives co-op teammates room to attack.
Venom Rogue
| Slot | Choice |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Wolfsbane Fangs |
| Armor | Northern set |
| Trinket | Astonishing Acid |
| Mutations | Assassin and Frenzy |
| Job | Repeat fast three-hit combos against venom-affected targets |
Wolfsbane Fangs apply venom buildup. Northern armor rewards attacks against venom-affected enemies and the final hit in the combo, while Astonishing Acid reinforces that same finisher. Frenzy adds an aggressive risk because blocking becomes weaker during its damage and recovery state.
Ranged support
| Slot | Choice |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Black Fang Greatbow |
| Armor | Nightstalker set |
| Trinket | Nifty Needle |
| Mutations | Sharpshooter, Trapper Peep.R, and Reliable Friend |
| Job | Land charged weak-point hits and revive teammates safely |
Nightstalker armor, Nifty Needle, and the Greatbow all reward accurate charged attacks. Sharpshooter and Trapper Peep.R further support that plan. Reliable Friend turns the safer backline position into useful revival coverage.
Test and adapt your build
Scan the target with PEEP.R, fight a familiar creature, and identify the first failure. Low damage points to a resistance or broken synergy. Empty stamina points to attack pacing or active-mutation support. Repeated knockouts point to armor weight, blocking, healing, or hazard resistance.
Change one slot at a time. Swap the weapon for a matching damage type before dismantling the whole loadout. Replace an offensive mutation with Cardio Fan for stamina or a resistance mutation for a boss-specific hazard. A controlled change shows which link actually fixed the chain.
Boss loadout checklist
Before a boss, verify the weapon's physical and elemental match, repair every equipped item, equip the correct resistance, and bring healing for both burst damage and damage over time. AXL, for example, adds venom pressure, so a solo setup benefits from Mithridatism and Scorpiodote alongside its stun plan.
Keep a second weapon ready for exposed weak points. A utility weapon can create the opening, then a faster weapon can spend the limited damage window more efficiently.
