Grounded 2 Bosses and Progression Guide
Plan a practical Grounded 2 boss order, prepare the right supplies, and adjust for AXL, King Dozer, story fights, and the Cockroach Queen.
Quick answer
- Use the Cockroach Queen and Network Centre fight as early benchmarks before moving into AXL, Toxic Tangle, and King Dozer content.
- Repair and upgrade gear, clear inventory space, carry healing and food, and set a nearby respawn point before every boss attempt.
- Bring ranged damage whenever a phase can move out of melee reach, especially in the Toxic Tangle story encounter.
- King Dozer requires sizzle protection, arena cooling, and minty damage; a combat-ready Buggy can enter the fight too.

Grounded 2 bosses at a glance
A boss checklist begins at the workbench, long before the arena. Grounded 2 mixes optional park bosses, story finales, and named creatures that serve as progression tests. This practical list focuses on the encounters that should change how you prepare.
| Encounter | Role in progression | Main planning concern |
|---|---|---|
| Cockroach Queen | Early optional tier 2 test | Sizzle buildup and a headless second phase |
| Network Centre boss | Original story milestone | A long approach that consumes gear durability and supplies |
| AXL | Optional tarantula boss | High-end combat readiness and tarantula gear rewards |
| Masked Stranger and O.R.C. Broodmother | Toxic Tangle story milestone | Two targets, ceiling movement, and ranged phase coverage |
| King Dozer | Optional summoned park boss | Arena heat, sizzle protection, minty damage, and Buggy support |
This route also includes boss-like encounters that different in-game and guide classifications may group separately. The useful question is whether an encounter locks progress, demands a dedicated kit, or awards a new equipment branch.
Suggested boss order
- Cockroach Queen: Use the Toxic Anthill fight to test upgraded tier 2 armor, blocking, and sizzle management.
- Network Centre story boss: Complete a supply run through the Statue region first, return home, then make a second trip with repaired gear and a combat-only inventory.
- AXL: Take on the optional tarantula after your core weapon, armor, healing economy, and blocking timing are reliable.
- Toxic Tangle story encounter: Carry melee damage for grounded phases and ranged damage for the Broodmother's ceiling phases.
- King Dozer: Treat the lizard as an environmental boss. Prepare for heat management as carefully as direct damage.
The middle three can overlap as the park opens. Follow equipment readiness instead of forcing a difficult fight simply because its update arrived earlier.
Prepare before any boss
Use the same six-step check before entering an arena:
- Repair every equipped weapon, armor piece, shield, trinket, and Buggy saddle.
- Upgrade the primary weapon and armor set as far as current resources allow.
- Carry healing, food, water, and the materials needed for one field repair.
- Empty unrelated resources from the backpack so boss loot and a recovery kit have room.
- Use PEEP.R on the target and choose damage, defense, and mutations around the card data.
- Set a nearby respawn point and leave a spare recovery kit outside the arena when the route is long.
A balanced boss kit includes one primary damage plan and one answer for phases that break it. A melee build still needs a ranged option when a target climbs, flies, or makes the floor dangerous.
Fight-specific adjustments
Cockroach Queen and Network Centre
The Cockroach Queen lives deep in the Toxic Anthill near the Picnic and Snackbar border. Clear nearby Cockroach Nymphs before engaging. Move away from sizzle-producing bubbles, use the large attack tells to block, and switch to safer ranged pressure during the headless second phase.
The Network Centre demands preparation because the route itself is part of the fight. Explore the Statue region, collect new materials, then return to base. Approach the boss on a fresh second trip with sizzle protection, food, smoothies, repaired gear, and open inventory slots.
AXL and Toxic Tangle
AXL is a dedicated tarantula boss added with Hairy and Scary. The reward branch includes Tarantula Armor, a Tarantula Bow, and a Tarantula Spear, so the kill opens a complete equipment theme rather than a single trophy item.
The Toxic Tangle story battle splits attention between the O.R.C. Broodmother and Masked Stranger. Focus the Broodmother's health while watching the second target. When the Broodmother moves to the ceiling, ranged damage knocks her back into the arena and prevents the phase from stalling.
King Dozer
King Dozer turns the arena into a resource that both sides can use. Keep the environment cool enough to control sizzle and deny the lizard its heat advantage. Bring minty damage, sizzle protection, repaired upgraded equipment, and a full healing supply.
A Buggy can join this fight. Upgrade it before relying on it, then use its support without letting repairs distract from the arena's cooling mechanic. Victory unlocks a scale-based branch of weapons, armor, furniture, and trophies.
Claim rewards and reset
After the victory, harvest the target, scan any new remains, and analyze every new material before crafting. Repair the winning kit while its resource cost is still visible, then store the summon item or route supplies together for a repeat attempt.
Boss rewards usually form an equipment branch with a clear combat identity. Build only the pieces that serve the next encounter or exploration goal, then keep the remaining materials for upgrades, trophies, and repeat-fight preparation.
