Where to find the Green Shield Bug in Grounded 2
The Grounded 2 Green Shield Bug is an aggressive Tier 3 creature found in Bridge Area and Gnarly Bark. Start with the eastern Bridge patrol for a direct material hunt. Bring Fresh or Stabbing damage and gas protection before approaching, because its gas builds Woozy even through protective headgear. A shorter hunt starts with the right mask and a clear exit.

Bridge Area hunting route
Travel south from Pumpkin Patch toward the Bridge Area, immediately north of Skunk Pond. Search the eastern, right-hand edge of the Bridge region for the Green Shield Bug's patrol. This is a surface hunt, so reaching the pond's deepest sections is unnecessary for collecting its parts.
Before attacking, look for open ground you can retreat across without entering the water or another creature's path. Mark the patrol location on your map once you find it. On later visits, that marker lets you check the hunting ground directly instead of searching the whole shoreline again.
Gnarly Bark approach
From the Ice Cream Cart Ranger Outpost, head southeast and continue south toward the Gnarly Bark Ranger Station. Use that station as your approach landmark, then scout the surrounding Gnarly Bark habitat for a roaming Green Shield Bug.
Choose this route when your trip already includes Gnarly Bark. Striped Bark Scorpions, Orb Weavers, and other creatures also occupy the region, so check the space around your target before starting. For a first trip devoted only to Green Shield Bug materials, the eastern Bridge patrol gives you a more specific starting point.
Gas protection and weapon preparation
Fresh and Stabbing are the Green Shield Bug's damage weaknesses. Pick an upgraded weapon that uses one of those damage types, and avoid relying on Spicy damage, which it resists. PEEP the creature before committing so its card is available during loadout planning.
The head slot deserves special attention. Grounded 2 uses Woozy buildup, and protective masks reduce the rate of that buildup rather than providing unlimited time inside a cloud.
| Headgear | Protection | How to prepare it |
|---|---|---|
| Gas Mask | 75% less Woozy buildup | Craft at a Workbench with 1 Weevil Nose, 4 Gnat Fuzz, 2 Crude Rope, and 1 Stinkbug Part |
| Praying Mantis Mask | 90% less Woozy buildup | Analyze a Praying Mantis Head, then craft at a Workbench with 1 Praying Mantis Head, 2 Stinkbug Gas Sacks, and 2 Black Ant Parts |
The Gas Mask recipe unlocks by analyzing a Weevil Nose, Stinkbug Part, or Stinkbug Gas Sack, or by reaching Brainpower Level 4. For repeat hunts, repair it before departure and bring its repair materials: 2 Gnat Fuzz and 1 Crude Rope. A Praying Mantis Mask repair uses 1 Praying Mantis Chunk and 1 Black Ant Part.
Carry healing, food, and water along with your weapon. At maximum Woozy, Gagging briefly stuns you and drains hunger and thirst. Avoiding that state preserves both your health and the supplies needed for the return trip.
How to handle its gas during the fight
- Put the protective mask on before moving into detection range. The bug attacks on sight, so finish inventory changes while you still have space.
- Approach from behind for your opening attacks, then reassess as it turns. Use short attacks that leave time to move when gas appears.
- When a cloud covers your position, stop extending the combo and step onto the clear ground you identified earlier. Watch the Woozy meter instead of judging safety only by your remaining health.
- Keep the creature visible while retreating. Resume attacks from a clear angle rather than following it through lingering gas.
- If you need to heal, first create space outside the cloud. Continue only after the buildup is under control, then harvest the remains after the kill.
Do not interpret a mask as permission to trade every gas attack for extra hits. Damage begins once Woozy rises above 40 buildup, and reaching the maximum adds the Gagging interruption. Leaving a cloud before that point is especially useful when your escape route passes other aggressive creatures.
Treat gas resistance and weapon damage as separate preparation checks. A strong Fresh weapon shortens the encounter, while the mask gives you more time to respond to the area attack. Neither replaces keeping an exit open.
Drops worth farming and how to plan repeat hunts
The main rewards are Green Shield Bug Parts and Super Stink Sacks. Stinkbug Gas Sacks can also appear as a rare extra. Loot every defeated bug before deciding whether you have enough for the planned craft.
| Material | Useful crafting goals | Farming priority |
|---|---|---|
| Green Shield Bug Parts | Tier 3 Omni-Shovel, Kiln, EverChar Torch | Reserve these for the tool or production building currently blocking your progress |
| Super Stink Sack | Super Gas Arrow | Keep a separate stack if you use gas ammunition against other targets |
| Stinkbug Gas Sack | Praying Mantis Mask | Treat this as an occasional bonus from this hunt |
Before leaving base, check the exact material requirement of your chosen recipe and empty enough inventory space for the drops. After each kill, check mask and weapon durability, heal, and compare your collected parts with that target. Return once you have the required materials or need repairs. This makes a hunt serve a specific upgrade instead of turning into a long trip with depleted protection.
Green Shield Bug Parts and Super Stink Sacks also come from the creature's O.R.C. and O.G.R.R. variants. The ordinary Bridge patrol is a straightforward starting target; you can save variant encounters for trips prepared for those fights.
