Grounded 2 Pond Moss Location and Uses
Find Pond Moss on the deep pond floor, identify the correct plant, harvest it with Tier 3 Omni Clippers, and plan a safer farming route.
Quick answer
- Pond Moss grows on the deep pond floor, with useful clusters near submerged PVC pipes.
- Look for a dark, flat patch close to the bottom instead of tall green algae.
- Tier 3 Omni Clippers are required to harvest the node.
- Keep at least three pieces for the Tier 4 Toe Biter Scythe and more for repairs.

Where to find Pond Moss
Pond Moss grows in the deeper sections of the Grounded 2 pond introduced with Into the Abyss. A direct route is to descend toward the central pond floor, then search the dark bottom around rocks, roots, and submerged pipe structures.
Several nodes grow around a PVC pipe toward the north side of the pond. That cluster is a better farming target than checking every patch across the entire bottom. Mark the pipe after the first visit so the return trip becomes a straight descent.
| Search area | What to look for | Route value |
|---|---|---|
| Deep central pond floor | Dark, flat patches spread across the bottom | Good while progressing through the pond story |
| Submerged PVC pipe toward the north | Several nodes close to one structure | Best target for a repeat material run |
| Deep routes near Abyss progression | Isolated patches among hostile creatures | Useful when another objective already brings you down |
Identify the correct plant
Pond Moss sits low against the pond floor. It looks darker and flatter than nearby algae and lacks the tall leaves of common underwater plants. Swim close enough for the resource label before spending oxygen on a wrong patch.
Use this visual check:
- Ignore tall strands and bright green growth.
- Scan the bottom for a compact, dark mat.
- Approach until the node displays its harvest prompt.
- Confirm that the prompt requires Tier 3 clipping.
Depth and low light make the silhouettes easy to confuse. An underwater light source and a slow sweep close to the bottom reveal more nodes than searching from the surface.
Bring Tier 3 Omni Clippers
Pond Moss requires Tier 3 Omni Clippers. Lower-tier clippers can reveal the prompt but cannot cut the node, so check the Omni-Tool upgrade before making the deep trip.
The tool requirement differs from the Widow Dagger route used in the first Grounded. Grounded 2 ties this harvest to the Omni Clippers progression. Upgrade the clippers, repair them, and place them on the hotbar before entering the water.
Farm a full route safely
Full diving gear shortens the descent and gives enough breathing room to search the bottom. Bring healing, a suitable underwater weapon, light, and open inventory slots. Clear enemies around a dense cluster before cutting because combat can scatter the dropped material or force an early ascent.
For an efficient run:
- Enter from the side closest to the marked PVC pipe.
- Descend in full diving gear and save burst movement for danger or the return climb.
- Clear the immediate enemies around the cluster.
- Cut one node and collect its drop before touching the next.
- Sweep the pipe and nearby floor in a tight circle.
- Return to the surface once oxygen reaches the planned turnaround point.
A harvested piece can disappear during collection in the current update. Picking up each piece immediately keeps the material visible and limits a collection problem to one node.
Use Pond Moss for the Toe Biter Scythe
The Tier 4 Toe Biter Scythe recipe uses three Pond Moss along with Toe Biter materials and Cattail Fluff. The weapon also consumes Pond Moss when repaired, so a single three-piece haul covers the first craft while a larger route supports continued use.
Store the first three pieces together until the weapon is crafted. After that, keep a small repair reserve at the base and use later pond trips to refill it.
